Video Editing Activity Pack

In this activity pack you will learn how to make a video guide using these video editing skills:
1. Add scene images.
2. Add scripted voiceover audio, adjust the volume and crop clips (including splitting a clip).
3. Add more clips and use transition effects.
4. Add titles.
5. Use elements such as shapes.
6. Add music background music and adjust the volume.
7. Export a project.

What resources will you need?

You will need access to the Kapwing video editing website.
A pen and paper for writing a script and Vocaroo website for recording it (if you have a microphone on your computer).
A free account for Kapwing.

Introduction tutorial

  1. Add scene images
    This video demonstrates how to important images into Kapwing video editing website to find a welcome image for your video guide. Tip: Use images that are landscape not portrait as that is the shape of TV’s and screens that play videos. The video also demonstrates how to change your canvas to 16:9 which is a landscape size.

2. Voiceovers and cropping clips

Write a short script as a welcome to your video and what it will be about. Then watch this video to learn how to add a voiceover using the Vocaroo website, adjust the volume and crop the clips so they match up. The video also demonstrates how to split a clip to remove parts.

3. Add more clips and use transition effects
This video demonstrates how to add another image scene and VoiceOver, then experiment with transition animation effects.

4. Titles
This video demonstrates how to add titles to your clips so that viewers can get extra information or read your voiceover instead go just hear it.

5. Elements
Use the elements tool to add objects such as shapes to point at parts of the video you are talking about in your voiceover. Use the video to help you.

6. Background music
This video demonstrates how to add music to your project and adjust the volume so that it does not get in the way of your voiceover.

7. Exporting your project
This video demonstrates how to export your project to save it as a video on your computer. If you have not finished then you can also copy the project link to continue next time.
