Prior Learning
Pupils should have created a comic using the Year 3 Comic Creation Activity Pack as the activities in this pack are an extension of this.

🛠 What will teachers and pupils need?
For the activities below; pupils will need access to the StoryboardThat. This website is paid but includes a free 14 day trial where teachers can create an account and then create student logins, either manually or using Google Classroom etc. There are details about this here. The 14 day trial should allow teachers to use it for around 2 lessons if the accounts are made shortly before the first lesson. There is a small charge per month after 14 days.

👨‍🏫 Teacher input
The pupil pack (included below) starts with a video introducing the skills taught in this pack, including the importance of planning films etc using storyboards.

🚦 Differentiation
This pack is very much an extension of the Year 3 Comic Creation Activity Pack as it covers many of the same skills but the tools have more options, including more options for changing the appearance of characters etc.

✅ Assessment
Saving is only available when with a StoryboardThat account (there is a free trial available). Other than that, pupils can save their storyboards as a screenshot. This could then be inserted into a Word document or saved to a pupil work folder. Click the blue links below to learn how to do this on your school devices.
Windows PC
Chromebook
iPad
Mac

On a Windows PC, pupils can press the Print Screen key, which puts the screen into the clipboard and then could be pasted into Word or PowerPoint etc. Alternatively pupils could print their storyboards direct from their browser, such as Chrome and Safari on iPad. Finally, the storyboards do save in the browser’s cache. This means if a pupil returns to the same computer they previously used, when they open up StoryboardThat, it will ask them if they want to resume a previous storyboard.
